Prequalified for Tingbjerg Multi Hall – architecture in motion
Lundgaard & Tranberg Architects is among four prequalified teams in the design competition for Tingbjerg Multi Hall, envisioned as a new hub for sport and community in the Copenhagen neighborhood of Tingbjerg.
The client is seeking an architectural landmark of high quality that combines functionality, flexibility, and accessibility. The multi hall must be integrated into the existing green sports area, so that the building, its immediate outdoor spaces, and arrival zones together form a cohesive whole and an attractive destination for sport, movement, informal gatherings, and time spent outdoors—both day-to-day and during major sporting and cultural events.
The new multi-purpose hall will be located in Tingbjerg Sports Park—as an identity-defining landmark and a unifying focal point for sport, culture, and community. The hall is intended to accommodate both everyday activities and larger sporting and cultural events, while offering inviting facilities for all user groups—local residents, associations, and visitors.
The competition also emphasizes that the architecture should act as a catalyst for positive community building at the neighborhood level—a place that is clearly rooted in Tingbjerg, yet with a quality and openness that can attract users from across Copenhagen. We look forward to presenting a proposal that brings these ambitions together with principles of universal design, sustainability, and robust solutions for both everyday use and event scenarios.
Lundgaard & Tranberg’s team includes Chroma Architects, NIRAS, Marianne Levinsen Landscape, universal design and accessibility specialist (Master’s) Cora Valloire, and Professor Jasper Schipperijn, who brings leading expertise in the design of movement and activity environments.
The competition proposal will be submitted in March 2026.
