Lundgaard & Tranberg Arkitekter Establishes New Executive Management as Part of Generational Transition

Lundgaard & Tranberg Arkitekter is strengthening its management structure with the establishment of a new executive management team. The organizational change is a natural part of the generational transition that began with the expansion of the ownership group in 2020. At the same time, CEO and Partner Peter Thorsen and Partner Henrik Schmidt will step down from the partnership at the end of June 2026 at their own request.

The new executive management team consists of Director and Partner Trine Troelsen, Director and Partner Pil Høyer Thielst, Director and Partner Michael Kvist, and Director and Partner Malene Hjortsø Kyndesen, who will together assume responsibility for the day-to-day management of the company. The new organization continues the studio’s community-driven culture and strengthens its leadership as the company continues to evolve. The partnership will subsequently consist of 12 partners.

Two Strong Profiles Continue at the Studio
Peter Thorsen and Henrik Schmidt have both been key figures at Lundgaard & Tranberg Arkitekter for more than 40 years and have been partners for the past 20 years. Peter Thorsen has also served as CEO for 17 years. Through their many years of work, they have made a significant contribution to the development of the studio and to a number of its most notable projects. Peter Thorsen’s portfolio includes Tietgen Dormitory, SEB Bank & Pension, and Pier 47, while Henrik Schmidt has served as lead architect on projects including the Royal Danish Playhouse, the Coastal Houses at Tuborg Strandeng, and Charlottehaven.

Although they are now stepping down from the partnership, this is not a farewell to the studio. Both will continue their daily work at Lundgaard & Tranberg Arkitekter, where their knowledge and expertise will remain an important resource. In this way, the generational transition continues in a way that ensures continuity and a strong transition to the new management structure.

Peter Thorsen says:

“Lundgaard & Tranberg Arkitekter has been a very significant part of my working life for more than 40 years. The generational transition was set in motion a few years ago, and it is both natural and right that it now continues. This is not a farewell to the studio, but a new role. Henrik Schmidt and I both look forward to continuing to contribute with our experience and deep knowledge of the studio’s history.”
