LØGUM CLOISTER RETREAT

The retreat is scenically located next to the meadow and stream, in the centre of the town Løgumkloster. A glass hallway connects the retreat with the eastern wing of the medieval monastery and the abbey church which is today a normal parish church.

The new meeting space, placed as an independent building in the middle of the courtyard, is a simple, cubic building with a light and transparent appearance.

The meeting space is accessed from the existing main entry and reception via a connecting hall under sloped terrain in the northwest corner of the courtyard.

The courtyard is maintained as a continuous garden space encircled by the characteristic masonry buildings of the existing refuge, with the new meeting space providing the new point of focus.

Landscape elements of paving, vegetation, and water radiate out from the new meeting room, defining the movement across the courtyard space and creating a framework for a variety of activities and experiences.
