The expansion of Trapholt Museum makes possible the exhibition of the museum’s extensive furniture collection, as well as expands the original foyer and café.
The addition consists of independent building elements placed in the park space and connected to the ‘museum street’ of the original complex.
A high, circular, exhibition space lit by skylights provides access via a curved ramp to a rectangular underground exhibition space, which is organized around an open atrium that provides daylight to the exhibits.
In connection with the expansion, the massive wall that delineates the museum and park has been extended. The wandering path of the wall gives glimpses and views between the original and new sections of the museum.
