Skovburren is a subsidized development project under the Housing Ministry and a result of the Energy Ministry Research Program EFP 88.
The goal has been to reduce heating requirements by utilizing active and passive solar heating in conjunction with a compact building form and highly insulated façade and roof construction.
Skovburren consists of 72 units, formed as relatively deep, two-storey row houses following the fall of the sloping terrain.
Characteristic, south oriented roof lanterns allow light to penetrate deep into a double-high space situated at the centre of the units, providing both a rich daylight environment and the desired heat gain.
The houses have massive bearing walls to accumulate solar heat and facades clad in cedar.
