Lundgaard & Tranberg Architects

Lundgaard & Tranberg Architects is a Danish architecture office founded in 1985 by architects Boje Lundgaard and Lene Tranberg. Today the practice is a partnership of seven people and a major group of employees.

Our practice is founded on the development and realization of original architectural concepts, elevating each individual project from the ordinary to innovative, visionary and poetic architecture.

The practice is shaped by the Nordic architectural tradition where humanism, craftsmanship, and simplification are regarded as central virtues. We view architecture as a public matter, concerning us all. At its best architecture rises above a narrow programme and becomes a generous gesture to the locality and society in a larger perspective.

“When You install a building in the sourroundings in which you happen to be,  then the nature of the exercise is not to point the finger at the others but to try to interweave with them.  Someone has once made an effort,  while others may not have had the chance to do so.  But we must live in these mixed contexts where everything is given in advance.”
